About E.F.M. ...Eastside Friends of Music is the non-profit boosters organization for the Casa Grande High School Music Program. This organization also supports other music programs in public schools on the east side of Petaluma which feed into Casa Grande High School. The finances for the majority of the operation of the Casa Grande High School Music Program are run through E.F.M.
What does E.F.M. fund? E.F.M. uses its funds to assist in the costs of maintaining and running the Casa Grande Music Program. Some examples of this would be the purchase of new sheet music (for bands and choirs), maintaining and replacing music stands and music furniture in the classrooms, the purchase of new instruments, the maintenance/repair of existing instruments, securing the services of a choral accompanist, the maintenance/repair of choral risers, the maintenance/purchase of new uniforms, entry fees into music festivals, some bussing expenses, senior scholarships, the Will Pieper Memorial Scholarship, and several other areas of need in a comprehensive high school music program. Whom does E.F.M. represent? E.F.M. represents the Music Program at Casa Grande High School. They also assist music programs in the surrounding public schools that feed into Casa Grande High School on the east side of Petaluma, California. E.F.M. also maintains the finances for the Sonoma County Honor Band and the Petaluma Community Band. How does E.F.M. generate its funds? The main source of funding is through weekly bingo games. E.F.M. partners with the Petaluma High School Music Boosters to operate a weekly evening of bingo games for the Petaluma community. These games take place year-round on every Saturday evening in the Old Multi-Use Room (OMU) at Casa Grande High School. Parents of music students from both high schools volunteer their time in shifts to help maintain and run these games. Music students from both high schools volunteer their time to set-up for these games each weekend. * Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, all bingo games have been suspended until further notice. * Music Department Senior Scholarships! E.F.M. is fortunate enough to be able to offer scholarships for students at the end of each school year. These scholarships are offered via the Senior Awards Night held at Casa Grande High School every spring. The E.F.M. Executive Board determines the number of scholarships being offered each year. Eligible seniors from within the Casa Grande High School Music Department must submit an application and essay. Recipients of the scholarships are determined by a "blind" reading group selected by Mr. Millard that reads and evaluates each application and essay. Congrats to our EFM
